Meet Your Future Health Coach
About Me -
Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm so glad you're here! I'm Adrianna, and I'm a single mother to three beautiful children. We live in Virginia on a micro homestead where we raise chickens (for eggs) and grow a variety of produce and herbs. My dream is to one day own a few acres and live sustainably off the land. In the meantime, I love supporting local farmers and getting our meat, dairy, honey, and produce from them whenever possible. CSA's are a great way to support local farmers while receiving an abundance of produce (and sometimes additional items like honey, pumpkins, Christmas trees, and more!).
I was homeschooled through high school and then attended a local community college for a couple of years. Once I got married and became pregnant with our first child, I had to drop classes because I was too nauseous to attend. I became a stay-at-home wife and mother, and spent much of my time reading about a holistic lifestyle for my family. Over the past seven years, I have spent countless hours learning about supplements, homeopathic remedies, herbs, essential oils, and other holistic tools. Additionally, I love comparing products and ingredients, as well as switching to non-toxic cleaners and hygiene items.
As a struggling military family living in Washington, DC on a paycheck that was less than the cost of living, I decided to start an Etsy shop to supplement our income. This ended up being more crucial than I ever imagined, because when I became a single mother four years ago, that shop became my main source of income. However, it doesn't fulfill my passion for health and helping people, and so I have found additional ways to support my family while helping others. In addition to health coaching, I also recommend a high-quality brand of plant-based supplements whenever applicable. Probiotics and multivitamins are two that should be taken daily, so I decided to partner with an amazing plant-based, toxin-free, non-GMO supplement company so that I can recommend products that I can stand behind 100%.
About My Health History -
For most of my life, I have struggled with many health issues. To name a few - IBS, Celiac disease, anxiety, depression, gallbladder issues, anemia (low iron), and more recently I've been dealing with PTSD and agoraphobia - which is a severe form of anxiety that has rendered me homebound for nearly two years. After almost dying twice in the past few years - once while pregnant with my youngest and once a couple of years ago from malnutrition and digestive troubles - I was led to discover some fascinating information about gut health. This led me down a rabbit hole that I still haven't left, and is a big part of why I ended up studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. A couple of friends told me about how gut health was the answer to most of my health problems and that I needed to start a strict regimen of supplements to begin repairing the damage that had been done to my body for so many years. I've also learned a lot about how different styles of delivery and feeding can affect our children's health, as well as medication and diet while pregnant, and whether the MTHFR genetic mutation comes into play. These are all things I hope to help educate about, through my blog and while working closely with clients.
About My Training -
Unofficially, I have spent many years doing my own researching about essential oils, supplements, homeopathic remedies, and other tools for holistic healing. I have spent the past year focusing on gut health and mental health, which led me to a friend who told me about the certification program through IIN. Since July 2018, I have received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition*, where I have spent extensive time studying a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. Additionally, I am in the process of receiving certifications in the areas of Homeopathy, Aromatherapy, Kinesiology (for muscle testing), and a Master Herbalist course as well.
